Meet the Team – Nicki

15th Jul

This month in our Meet the Team spotlight, we’re heading behind the scenes to introduce Nicki Richardson — the friendly face keeping everything running smoothly and creating our beautiful hampers.

Nicki has been part of the Hollow Trees family for around 13 and 1/2 years. Based behind the scenes in the office, she works with every department, often organising hampers and uniforms, and bringing energy, creativity and a touch of magic to each day.

Let’s get to know Nicki a little better, from her go-to Farm Café order to her surprising hobbies outside of work!

Name: Nicki Richardson
Job Role: Admin and Hamper Fairy
Length of Service: 13 and 1/2 years

If you could describe Hollow Trees Farm in three words, what would they be?
Picturesque, nature, colourful

What does a typical day look like for you?
I interact with staff from every department, handle cashing up, emails, phone calls, charity and hamper requests, and help source and buy for all areas of the farm. I also take on random sewing jobs, manage lost property, complete monthly health and safety audits, create staff newsletters, and order and distribute uniforms.

Favourite season on the farm and why?
Spring, because it feels like we’re coming out of the gloom of winter, and of course for the babies — the kids and lambs, with goat kids being my favourite. And Christmas, as I actually love making hampers!

If you could order anything from the Farm Café, what would be your perfect meal or go-to treat?
Caesar salad. Yum.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
To travel through a portal to see the world without having to use airports, which I hate.

What are your hobbies and interests?
I’m a historical re-enactor and take part in WW1 and Roman shows, entertaining and educating people about the history and the people of those times. I’m also a fully trained couture dressmaker and make a lot of historical costumes as well as modern pieces, including wedding dresses.
